Summer Haiti Mission Trip ~ Day 4

Chuck, Father Guy & Bob in Decouze
Prayer Partner of the Day - Sally Block

Yesterday, I posted on facebook, "I've been chased by a peacock, sat thru a three hour worship service & sweated more than the last three months put together! Thankfully I can run fast, and now I feel closer to God and have beautiful shiny skin! It's great to be home in Haiti!" And that still rings true today!

The day started epically. I awoke early, and sat in my room quietly reading during morning prayers. As Bob passed by my room, he said we were leaving soon. I was awaiting the shower, and he assured me he had fixed the other shower. So I got in, and sure enough, the water came out. Ran it long enough to get wet. Turned it off, soaped up, and then... You know what happened... The water wouldn't come back on. In fact, the knob came off in my hand. It was an epic tale... I quietly hollered over the wall..."can anyone hear me?!" Sure enough, someone could, and they brought me a screwdriver to put the knob back on. Life was again good, and we were on the road to Decouze before 7am.

I rode over to our site with Brothers Olizard and Alabre. We had quite the sing-a-long, including "We Are The World," sung in harmony!

We arrived at St. Michael's Parish and were warmly welcomed by Father Guy. Chuck, Bob, and I are a well-oiled machine and quickly included our two new team members. We kicked into gear once arriving on site. We each had a partner, and off we went! We had the water running to the board from the reservoir, clean water running to the tank, and the recirculating configured. The board was mounted & completely plumbed by noon. With the exception of a cracked trash filter, we could have been producing clean water by 1pm! However, we took the afternoon off, relaxed at the beach and now we're back at the monastery, and looking forward to completing our project tomorrow.

Dedicated to the HUMC Team!
Yesterday  was fortunate to have a mango fall off the tree right beside me... Is there anything better than fresh mango? Juices running down my arms, mango stuck in my teeth! It was divine! Today fresh coconut was on God's menu, straight from the tree. Mmm...coconut water! It, too, was divine.

A special shout out to today's prayer partner -- Sally Block! As a Haiti-alum, she has been texting with wisdom and words of encouragement hourly. I am so thankful to be a part of her family! Hey Sal -- can you pray for me to "drop a few pounds?!" Okay, thanks!

Again, we thank everyone for your prayers. We couldn't do it without you!

Summer Haiti Mission Trip ~ Day 3

Prayer Partner of the Day - Emily Ronis

We had been told last night that work would have to wait today, as today was a celebration. The earthquake completely brought down the buildings, the monastery and the school of Little Brothers of St. Therese in Palmiste Au Vin. However, Brother Olizard Pranius is completely in charge with a vision of a brighter future. With the help of the German Red Cross and the Holy Spirit Haiti Mission, they have rebuilt the monastery, rebuilt the business buildings, and rebuilt the school. Today was the dedication of the brand new, beautifully buillt school building.

There were upwards of 150 people in attendance. All of the school children, many of the parents/community members, and even a few dignitaries from the town. Festivities started with an over hour-long mass led by the priest for the area. Ignace was rockin' & rollin' on the keyboard with a mixer! Thus, it was a contemporary Catholic mass the likes of which I've never seen! There was still the chanting by the priest, the singing by the people, prayers & a sermon, but Ignace jazzed up the music! The second two hours were filled with speeches by the brothers and reps from the German Red Cross and our leader, Bob McCoy.

The highlight of the morning was the school chorus singing "We Are The World" in English. It was beautiful...especially when you think back to right after the earthquake when the celebs gathered to make a new updated version to the song, featuring Wyclef Jean, a native Haitian. As Ancy & I were riding around Port-Au-Prince yesterday, I could finally see a bit of improvement, or perhaps maybe  my eyes were simply accustomed to the devastation. Either way, there is hope for Haiti. Hope for the children. Hope for a better future. I cannot wait to share this video when I get home.

The celebration continued at the monastery with a feast the women had spent all night long cooking. Then...we got to work. Our team of three from March is two folks heavier, and thirty minutes into the work, we hit a stride and had the system mounted on the board in less than four hours. (Pictures will come when I return home...or check out my Facebook page, as I post there occasionally.)

With our work completed early today, we are taking the opportunity to relax and enjoy the fellowship of the brothers... And I am doing school work! Let me take the opportunity to thank EVERYONE who is holding us in prayer! I have received numerous text messages, emails, Facebook comments and Tweets, and each give us strength, encouragement, and an outstanding dose of love. Our team is not just five people... It's the five of us PLUS all of you. We truly could not accomplish any of this without you.

A special shout-out to today's specific prayer partner - Emily Ronis! Emily is currently on her last mission trip as a "high schooler!" She is an amazing young women with so many talents and so much enthusiasm! We're holding you in prayer today, Emily, too! God be with you in Ohio!

The newest water system in Haiti will be mounted tomorrow in Decouze! Peace be with each of you today and everyday.

Summer Haiti Mission Trip ~ Day 2

Prayer Partner of the Day ~ Carrie Delisio

Greetings from Haiti! I am always amazed at how it really is like coming home here. I must admit, though, I was nervous as can be knowing I had to walk out of the airport by myself. There is usually a mob of people simply waiting to descend upon you as you exit the doors. I thought immediately of my prayer partner, Carrie, who assured me I would breeze right thru this, and as I said a prayer, a man appeared, holding a sign saying, "Ashley! I am Ancy's cousin! You can trust me!" He carried me thru the mob and brought me safe to Ancy on the other side of the fence. I was very thankful!

Our reunion was just like a brother & sister who had not seen each other in ages! We've talked for a solid 10 hours.

Ancy & I took a road trip to Mirebalais to do a site survey for a potential installation. If ever there were a textbook site and partner, this would be it. They're a perfect fit for a solar-powered water system...and maybe more! With any luck (hint, hint, nod, nod) this will be the next project for Herndon United Methodist Church.

As though we were in a small town, we ran into Mannes and his son, and also Father Fruitho Michaud of Trouin. Also, after we dropped off Ancy, we ran into Pastor Evens on his brand new motorcycle! Apparently he lives right by Ancy...

Other notes of interest from the day ....

For all the HUMC & CCP readers, I inquired about the goats. Pastor Evens was happy to report Leonie is pregnant...but Ashley is not!

We stopped by to see Father Irnel at his home in Port Au Prince. He is very sick, very weak. Seeing him in such a state made me very sad and worried for him. He is not well at all.

Our team is now complete, with the arrival of Bob, Bob's wife Kathy, Chuck and another fella named James. We've arrived in Palmiste Au Vin, warmly greeted by the brothers, and after snuggling into "my room", it really does feel like we're back at home.

Carrie, a special shout out to you for your encouraging text messages today and your unconditional love and support. This one's for you.... And iiiiiiiiiiii!

Peace be with you!

Summer Haiti Mission Trip ~ Day 1

Prayer Partner of the Day ~ Carl Jones

When the alarm clock went off a bit before 3:00am this morning, I glared at it with an "are you kidding" me look?!" Then I remembered I was starting my journey to Haiti today! I wish I could tell you that sprung me into action, but at least I had a slight smile on my face as I slowly readied myself.

My prayer partner joined me in the early morning, thanks to his dog, and he provided the right words of encouragement right as I was on the verge of meltdown in the security line! His affirmation put my attitude back on track and then I found my husband, coffee AND Rick Pitino! Life would have only been better had it been Roy Williams instead of Pitino! Nevertheless, it was pretty neato!

The flight was uneventful. Naps occurred at the hotel, and now I'm enjoying fine dining before bedtime! It'll be an early night with an early morning, but knowing my dear Haitian brother, Ancy, will be awaiting me, it's well worth it! Tomorrow is a very full day! I'm so excited!

Peace be with you! Night night!

Butterflies & Honey Bees

So much for an early bedtime before getting up at 3:00am! Yes that's right, our alarms are set for 3:00am... Just a few hours away until John and I both have to be at the airport to check in for our respective flights. While he's heading back to DC, I'll be starting my journey to Haiti. It's the third time I've been this year, and I'm just as excited as I am everytime. My friend, Ignace, who lives by the monastery we'll be staying at, wrote me this week to say, "we'll be excited to welcome you home!" I just can't wait!

With the excitement building, sleep will not be easy to come by. I have been listening to music to soothe my mood, but Honey Bee by Blake Shelton continues to pop up on my iPod, which gets me to singing and smiling!

So here I lay with excitement and visions of honey bees dancing in my head!

Good night and good dreams...I hope!

Prayer Partners, Summer Haiti Mission Trip

What's the most important thing you take with you on a mission trip? PRAYER PARTNERS!

Next Monday, June 27, I'll once again be hitting the road (er, plane) to Haiti. I am so thankful to meet up again with my good pals, Chuck and Bob, and we'll be installing a Living Waters For The World clean water system at Sister Claudette's in Leogane, Haiti. My excitement level is through the roof for several reasons...

Ancy, my Haitian brother
First, I will be arrive almost a full day before the rest of my team. My dear Haitian brother, Ancy, will be picking me up at the airport, and we'll be venturing into Port-Au-Prince and beyond to follow up on a few surveys and connections. I am so excited to spend the day with him!

I can't wait to see Lucy!
Second, we'll be once again staying with the Little Brothers of St. Therese in Palmiste-Au-Vin. This was our home for our month-long trip in March. I cannot wait to see little Lucy and reunite with the brothers. When I say going to Haiti is like going home, it really is true.

Finally, I love partnering with friends and family in prayer, and this mission trip once again gives me the opportunity to do so. During the March trip, I was thankful to have at least one prayer partner each and every day. (See older blog posts - Prayer Partners and Prayer Partners, Part #2.) This allowed so many people to be a part of our mission trip, even though they could not physically be with us. God connected us for a month, and through Him, we were strengthened and our mission was a success.

Once again, I am hopeful to have a list full of prayer partners for our trip. While we'll only be gone 9 days, we will need your encouragement with every passing minute. It will be HOT and our work will be long! Your prayers will lift us up!

Who would like to join us as a Prayer Partner? We'll, of course, be praying for YOU, too!

Monday, June 27 - Carl Jones
Tuesday, June 28 - Carrie Delisio
Wednesday, June 29 - Emily Ronis
Thursday, June 30 - Sally Block
Friday, July 1 - Barb Black & Sarah Anderson
Saturday, July 2 - Barbara Shaffer & Lorri Ronis
Sunday, July 3 - Becky Field-Ross & Cook Family
Monday, July 4 - Sean Devolites & Diana Grace
Tuesday, July 5 - Jay Horstman

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 50

Theme of the Day - Best Duet Song

Today is the day! Today is the end of the 50 Song Challenge. I hope you've enjoyed playing along and making up the soundtrack to your life! Some of my picks were timeless and classics, while others were catering to my current music choices. Your soundtrack would no doubtedly be different each time you selected the music for the challenge.

Today's final pick is best duet song. Instead of simply picking a group with more than one member, like Lady Antebellum or The Beach Boys, I'm opting for two singers or two groups collaborating on a song. Perhaps this category should be renamed "Best Collaboration Song!"

Justin Bieber and Rascal Flatts recently won the CMT Best Duet for their collaboration on That Should Be Me. Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson made a superb ballad in Don't You Wanna Stay. My favorite is probably Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett on It's Five O'Clock Somewhere. (You can see my post about it by clicking here.)

Since I've used up these three in other posts, we will again go CLASSIC! Think the movie Grease... Summer Lovin' by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John! What a great song to end the 50-Day Song Challenge and what a great song to fall on the longest day of the year!

Won't you join me in singing... :)

Come back tomorrow as we explore Bucket Lists and begin packing for Haiti!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 49

Theme of the Day - Best party song

There are so many great party songs. From the ol' standbys (YMCA, Electric Slide, Dancing Queen and Brown Eyed Girl) to newer hits (Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Dynamite, and OMG), there is not a shortage of great party music!

Ultimately, the pick of the day will be I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas. The official video would be a little to "risque" for me to post here. Thus, this is their performance from the World Cup kick-off concert last summer. Enjoy and go find a party!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's final pick on the 50 Day Song Challenge!

Sunday, June 19, 2011

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 48

Theme of the Day - best boy singer song

Though there are hundreds of male singers I could choose, from country to rock to metal, the choice here will be classic again! Elvis Presley.... Suspicious Minds. My grandmother LOVED Elvis. She had only one CD in her car, and that was an Elvis concert CD. Of all the times I've been through Memphis now, and I have yet to see Graceland. Put that on the Bucket List, please!

My friend, Leslie, is still in town, and we really wanted to see a Cirque De Soliel show while she was here. We narrowed it to Viva Elvis at the Aria and Beatles Love at the Mirage. Ultimately, we decided on the Beatles, but enjoy this great number, as it is shown from Viva Elvis!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 47

Theme of the Day - Best girl singer song

I was tempted to go with Carrie Underwood, since that would fit my current country music phase! However, we'll go classic instead. Whitney Houston has a powerful voice, and she is one of the only female singers I can listen to and actually enjoy. I came to love Whitney during The Bodyguard movie, which she starred in with Kevin Costner. The soundtrack to the movie produced hit after hit. Her remake of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You is one of my favorites, and I especially love the scene in the movie where she & Kevin are dancing to the song in the country western bar! Classic!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 46

Theme of the Day - a song I wouldn't sing at karaoke night

Well, this is easy. I wouldn't sing at karaoke night in the first place! Next question? :)

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 45

Theme of the Day - a song of your favorite movie

My favorite movie of all time is The Sound of Music! It just so happens that the cast of The Sound of Music, all seven children plus Julie Andrews & Christopher Plummer, were on Oprah yesterday. Hearing them tell "backstage stories" and the insiders' views made me want to watch the movie all over again....for the 75th time! In fact, I don't really need to even watch the movie...I can recite it from beginning to end!

Rodgers & Hammerstein wrote such an amazing score to the movie. Everyone knows My Favorite Things, Sound of Music, 16 Going on 17, The Lonely Goatherd, and, of course, Do-Re-Mi. What great, great music!

Edelwiess is my favorite song from the movie. I love the scene where Christopher Plummer plays the guitar in front of the children and his oldest daughter joins him in signing... Oh, and when the family sings it again before going on the run! Oh I just love the movie and the songs.

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 44

Theme of the Day - A song that evokes bad memories

See how close we were?
Would it be wrong to say I don't have any bad memories? I simply block them out, or discard and replace them with good memories! Thus, how could a song possibly evoke a bad memory if I do not have any? Or at the least, there are no songs that I associate with bad memories...

So let's just scratch today's song choice and go with a normal blog post!

With Mac Powell of Third Day
Today I am awaiting my friend Leslie to come to town. Her flight was supposed to be here in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, she hasn't even left the east coast yet! Poor thing is bound to be exhausted by the time she arrives. My guess is there will be no Strip-touring tonight! Whenever Leslie and I travel together, something really exciting always happens. Take for instance when she visited me in Houston? We ended up with "diamond club" seats at the Astros game. That's right, we were directly behind George & Barbara Bush!

When we went to Pittsburg for a National Youth Workers Convention, we had an artist paint a picture just for us. It was gorgeous! However, since we both flew in, we could not possibly take it back to either of our homes. Thus, we made the day of another youth pastor, and gave it to her. I still remember her glee! We also had the chance to meet The Skit Guys, David Crowder, the lead singer of Third Day, and Chris Tomlin! In our Christian world, these are major celebrities!
Our Painting!
With David Crowder
And the Skit Guys!

The best trip came to NYC. We had agreed to gals weekend, just the two of us. John gave us Hilton points and we stayed smack in the middle of Times Square. We had 7th row seats to Beauty & the Beast...and Donny Osmond was playing Gaston! We went to see the Rockettes' Christmas Spectacular at Radio City...and had 4th row seats! We opted for a fun dinner out at the Jekyll & Hyde Club...and instead of waiting in the block-long line, we were ushered to the front and given great seats. Everytime Leslie & I get together...other than the swine flu incident, we have a great time!
At Radio City for Christmas Spectacular
Beauty & The Beast on Broadway
Enjoying a great meal at Carmine's in NYC

So, as I eagerly await the arrival of my friend, I am wondering what great event will happen this time? Will we have the paparazzi following us? Have dinner with the mayor? Or perhaps it will be low-key, and we can just enjoy girl time! Who knows? But with Leslie, it's always a great time!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 43

Theme of the Day - A song that evokes good memories

Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion immediately brings a smile to my face. This song was in the movie Up Close & Personal, starring Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer. The movie came out during my junior year of high school, and my best friend, April, and I went to see the movie, while the boys we were with saw Celtic Pride. (They wish they had come with us!) It was already a crazy night, as we had a flat tire on the way to the movie. Thank goodness the boys knew how to change the tire! April & I loved the movie. In fact, when it came on television recently, I called her just to relive this memory, and we sang the song! This might just be "our song!"

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 42

Theme of the Day - A song I hate but still listen to...

Again, haven't we had something like this already?

Why don't we catch up a bit instead? I have just returned from a JOY-filled four days in Herndon, Virginia. As you know, I've moved to Vegas from there recently and miss all of my friends, especially those that turned into family. There was much celebration in Herndon with high school graduation rapidly approaching, and parties were abundant! I cannot even describe how good it was to see the people that bring so much happiness to my life. The conversations, the 2384 hugs, the seven parties, the squeals of excitement... Though I had been gone for several months, life picked up right where I left it with the friends and family I love.

Above all, I am so thankful for my husband, who made the trip possible. It is one of the best gifts he's ever given me! I'm so lucky to have be surrounded by so many wonderful people, including him.

It was also Pastor Ryan's last Sunday at HUMC. Filled with the Spirit, he delivered an awe-inspiring, simply amazing message on love. To celebrate his ministry, and wish him well in his next step meant the world to me. As I said many times over the weekend, my "love-o-meter" is filled to capacity! I am so lucky!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 41

Theme of the Day - Favorite Song From the 2000's

The 2000's brought boys bands and the latin invasion especially for me. *NSync was big, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, LFO and others enjoyed heartthrob status. Enrique Iglesias & Marc Anthony wooed with their spanish style. Lonestar put out the hit Amazed, Vertical Horizon kept us swaying with Everything You Want, and I distinctly remember my college roommate dancing to Shaggy.

Just for kicks, today's choice will be Edwin McCain's I Could Not Ask For More. Though he may be better known for his hit I'll Be, this pick was on the Message in a Bottle soundtrack. I believe Sara Evans made a cover of the song, which is also good.

It's a super weird video, but the music is fantastic...

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 40

Theme of the Day - Favorite Song from the 90's

For me, the 90's opened up my tastes in music. My Youth Pastor introduced me to Jimmy Buffett, I went through a classic rock phase, and by the time college hit, I was in full-blown pop mode! It's very hard to choose just one song. Perhaps Wonderwall by Oasis? Or One Week by Barenaked Ladies? River of Dreams by Billy Joel? Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven? Or perhaps something from the second album of Boyz II Men?

In an effort to go with my country music fascination as of late, I will choose Garth Brooks as the artist... And song choice... So tough. Unanswered Prayers? Friends in Low Places? To Make You Feel My Love? The River?

Since my husband has been whistling it lately, just for kicks, the song of the day will be Two Pina Coladas! This is dedicated to the best husband out there!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 39

Theme of the Day - Song from the 80s

The Beach Boys came out with a hit in 1988 called Kokomo. It was featured on the movie Cocktail's soundtrack. Great song by my all-time favorite band! Whenever I hear the song, I imagine myself at a swim-up bar with a mango daquiri as the sunsets. Is there anything better?

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 38

Theme of the Day - a song you would perform in front of people

Isn't this just the same as a song you would sing  at karaoke night?

I think it is, and thus, I refuse to answer! :) How about the song I am listening to...RIGHT NOW! It's Luke Bryan's Shake it For Me

Need to hear it?? Oh yes!!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 37

Theme of the Day - Most played song on my iPod

Finally, we're caught up on the 50-Day Song Challenge. How much fun is this? It really is a soundtrack to my life!

The most listened to song on my iPod is David Cook's version of the Beatles' classic, Eleanor Rigby. Rather random, don't you think? I was a huge fan of David Cook on American Idol several years ago. While his first album was not exactly stellar, I loved a few of the "American Idol Studio Versions" of his songs, and quickly purchased them on iTunes. He has a great rocker voice, rivaling another Idol alum, Chris Daughtry.

So check it out! Eleanor Rigby sung by David Cook! Here's to hoping his upcoming second album is this good...

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 36

Theme of the Day - Favorite Rap Song

Ah, this is better! First song to pop into my head was Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. What a great song about New York! The soulful melodies by Alicia and the creative rhymes by Jay-Z make for a perfect "rap" duet. Love it!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 35

Theme of the Day - A song I find annoying

Perhaps the reason I have been behind on the song challenge is due to my lack of annoying song choice? In fact, I looked back thinking this category had already been used. Apparently it was just worded slightly different.

Annoying song? How about the Barney TV Theme? A sweet message, but nevertheless annoying as sung by a purple dinosaur. Stretching it? Probably so. But this will have to do.

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 34

Theme of the Day - A song that reminds me of a family member

For whatever reason, 90's music reminds me of my brother, Chris. Specifically, I remember singing If You Could Only See by Tonic over and over again with him. And it was more like a whine, or a making fun of the song, rather than singing it because we liked it so much.

Oh Chris, those were the days! I also remember him going through a "hair" band and heavy metal phase, which is quite funny to me now. However, he'd probably laugh that I am obsessed with country song music!

In any case, this one's for you Chris!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 33

Theme of the Day - a song I never grow tired of

I just listened to Hotel California by the Eagles three times in a row as I walked off my run! To see a great video of the song click here.

The Eagles are one of the greatest bands of all time, if you ask me. They rank in the top ten of my favorites, along with The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffett and all the other acts you've read about over these 33 days. Hotel California's lyrics, the guitar solos, the smooth melody... They make me happy, and I'll never grow tired of hearing the song over and over.

Friday, June 3, 2011

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 32

Theme of the Day - Favorite Love Song

What a great category! The problem is there is no way to pick just ONE great love song. There are so many to choose from. Forever by The Beach Boys has already been mentioned on Day 1 of this challenge.
It's Your Love by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill and Take My Breath Away by Berlin are two more favorites. If we're talking Christian music, Love Song For A Savior by Jars of Clay is exceptional. Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Franki Valli and the Four Season is timeless, and there are countless Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick, Jr song that could easily fit this category. Oh, what about James Taylor's How Sweet It Is, or Come Away With Me by Norah Jones. There are so many beautiful love songs.

If I have to come up with just one... Well, I can't, and since it's my countdown, here are my favorite two. Both are old school, both were played at my wedding reception, and both fill me with mushy, gooshy, love!

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers

AND

You're the Inspiration by Chicago

If you don't own them, download both now. Then go find your honey and have a sweet Friday afternoon dance!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 31

Theme of the Day - Song I would sing at karaoke night

My dear husband has sung karaoke! He has pulled out a few Sinatra tunes and belted out a fine rendition of Margaritaville! All took place late night on cruise ships. In fact, the one and only time I have sung karaoke was also on a cruise ship. Spring Break 2001! Ten years ago on our last college spring break, somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, we gals sang I Will Survive. Well, Deanna sung it... Marsha, Belinda, Crystal, and I were amazing back up singers! Though I wish I had a video of us gals singing...this will have to do!

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 30

Theme of the Day - My favorite song this time last year

This time last year, I was living in Herndon, VA and this week marks the year anniversary of the Costa Rica Mission Trip with the most wonderful Young Adults in the world. (See this post for more details on the trip...) It was about this time that Sean, Allison, Joel and others were filling my iPod with great, peppy music. Dynamite by Taio Cruz made Day #1 of this challenge. It still puts a smile on my face every time I hear it!

However, today's pick will be OMG by Usher! The official video can be seen by clicking this link.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh my gosh! :)

50 Day Song Challenge - Day 29

Theme of the Day - Song from my childhood

My parents used to sing one song to me all the time... It goes like this...

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away!

My dad also made up a song that he sang to me often...

A is for the apple of my eye
S is for the sweetness of her face
H is for the happiness we bring her
L is for the love we give to her
E is for the effort that she does so well
Y is for the youngness of her soul
Put them all together they spell Ashley...
Ashley we do love you so!

Yes, I can still hear my dad singing that song to me! He is definitely one of the most creative men I know! What a great memory!

Maundy Thursday: Give Me Those Feet
